benefit in the synovial fluid by strengthening cartilage and aiding
glycosaminoglycan synthesis. If this hypothesis is confirmed, it would mean
that only the glucosamine sulfate form is effective and non-sulfated
glucosamine forms are not effective.” More studies are needed to know
definitively which form of glucosamine is the most effective against
osteoarthritis. Most glucosamine supplements also contain additional
ingredients such as Chondroitin and MSM. These ingredients also help in
easing joint stiffness and pain associated with osteoarthritis. While
glucosamine is generally considered to be safe, it’s always important to
consult a medical professional before starting a new supplement program.

Osteoporosis, or reduced bone mineral density that can increase the risk of fractures, may affect as many as 30% of women and 12% of men worldwide. One risk factor for osteoporosis is vitamin D deficiency. A modified form of the vitamin D receptor present in some individuals may lower their risk for developing osteoporosis, according to an article in Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. To act on cells in the body, vitamin D binds to a specific receptor on the surface of cells. A variation in the gene for the vitamin D receptor (called the Bsm I polymorphism) may change this interaction. In the article, "Vitamin D Receptor BSM I Polymorphism and Osteoporosis Risk: A Meta-Analysis from 26 Studies," authors Fu Jia and colleagues, Kunming Medical University and Yunnan University of Chinese Traditional Medicine, Yunnan, People's Republic of China, report that people with this genetic variation appear to have a significantly decreased risk of developing osteoporosis.

"This meta-analysis provides a pathway to help determine the likelihood that a person may develop osteoporosis and is a good example for the potential application of genetics to clinical medicine," says Kenneth I. talked, briefly, about Folic Acid in my B vitamins article, however this
vitamin is so important it needs an article of its own! Folic acid is also
known as Folate and Vitamin B9. According to the Office of Dietary
Supplements, “Folate helps produce and maintain new cells. This is
especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as
infancy and pregnancy.” For this reason, women who are of child-bearing
years and may become pregnant should make sure they are taking a women’s
multi vitamin [1] with adequate levels of Folic Acid. Folate or Folic Acid is
widely available in supplemental form; however, there are some natural food
sources of folate available as well. Leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits
are the most common food sources of folate. Additionally, foods such as bread
and various cereals are fortified with supplementary folic acid. You may want
to consider your folate intake because “folate is needed to make DNA and
RNA, the building blocks of cells. It also helps prevent changes to DNA that
may lead to cancer,” according to the Office of Dietary Supplements,
“Both adults and children need folate to make normal red blood cells and
prevent anemia.” The Institute of Medicine recommends the following daily
dosages of Folic Acid: Age 1-3 years old 150μg/day 4-8 years old 200μg/day
9-13 years old 300μg/day 14+ years old 400μg/day Pregnant or nursing women
are recommended to get 600μg/day of Folic Acid because of its importance in
cell development. Because Folic Acid is a water soluble vitamin it’s hard
to get excessive amounts of it, however the Office of Dietary Supplements
does warn against taking too much supplemental Folic Acid for various
reasons. One of the biggest reasons to avoid too much Folic Acid is the
ability of increased Folic Acid intake to mask the symptoms of Vitamin B12
deficiency, leading to larger health problems. Most liquid nutritional
supplements [2], particularly multivitamins, have Folic Acid in them. It’s
important to make sure you’re aware of how much Folic Acid you’re
getting, because while it’s important, it is possible for Folic Acid to
react adversely to some medications you may be taking. As always consult your

The recession has caused shoppers to cut spending on expensive vitamins and other health supplements â€" and turn back to fruit and vegetables.

Just 35 per cent of Britons still take vitamin supplements regularly, a fall from the 41 per cent who did so in 2008, according to market analysts Mintel.

Products ranging from multivitamin pills to cod liver oil capsules are seen as an unaffordable luxury by households tightening the purse strings as the cost of living soars.

But the report found a 5 per cent rise in spending on fruit and vegetables in the past year, and a rise of almost 7 per cent in sales of functional food and drink â€" products artificially engineered to have extra health-giving properties.

Millions of Britons buy multivitamins as ‘health insurance’, whether or not they have a healthy diet, in the hope that it might prevent cancer or other diseases.

But research has produced conflicting evidence on their benefits and some studies on high-dose vitamins have shown harm.

Mintel found the UK market for vitamins and supplements will be worth £385million this year, up 2.7 per cent on last year.

But this is due to price rises rather than volume, as overall consumption is declining and the amount spent is also predicted to start falling over the next few years.

Mintel senior consumer analyst Alexandra Richmond said the outlook for the vitamin market was ‘lacklustre’, explaining: ‘Cautious consumer spending, lower consumption, competition from functional foods, lack of ground-breaking launch activity and new European Food Safety Authority requirements have all hampered elevated growth rates.’

'The outlook for the market is lacklustre, with value sales falling in the short term.'

She added that the education of consumers in nutrition had ‘proved a double-edged sword’ for the vitamin market, as consumers increasingly turned to fruit and vegetables.

The exception to the downward trend is among the elderly â€" 89 per cent take supplements daily. And with Britain’s population continuing to get older, it could help give the industry cause for longer-term optimism.

THE BEST-SELLERS

Multivitamins are the most popular product on the market and supplements containing omega-3 are also popular due to much positive publicity about the health benefits.

Iron tablets - particularly popular with women - are the biggest selling supplements of all, followed by calcium and zinc.

Seven in ten Britons who take vitamins and supplements do so to boost health in general, with 40 per cent believing they ward off illness and 35 per cent feeling an energy boost.

Ten per cent of people take a supplement or vitamin pill because they think it will help prevent cancer.

Just last month it was reported that taking a daily multivitamin pill can lower the risk of cancer.

The researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in Boston, and Harvard Medical School found that regular use for more than a decade cuts the risk of developing the disease by 8 per cent.

However, some studies of high-dose vitamins have shown they may do more harm than good.

Multivitamin Use May Not Reduce Heart Disease Risk in Men

A new study suggests that long-term multivitamin supplementation may not reduce the risk of heart disease in men.

Multivitamins are manufactured supplements that may contain a wide range of vitamins and minerals. Multivitamins are meant to provide individuals with the proper amounts and types of vitamin and mineral nutrients that the body needs. Supplemental multivitamins may benefit individuals who do not get enough vitamins and minerals from food, as well as people who have difficulty absorbing nutrients from food.

The kinds and amounts of nutrients in multivitamins vary widely. A typical multivitamin and mineral supplement may include some or all of the following: vitamins A, C, D, E, and K; biotin; B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12); folic acid; and the minerals calcium, chromium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, selenium and zinc.

In a new study, 14,641 men at least 50 years-old were randomly assigned to receive d a daily multivitamin or placebo from 1997 through 2011 to assess the potential relationship between multivitamin supplementation and heart disease risk. The outcome measures included the combined results of major cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, as well as heart disease-related death.

Over an average follow-up period of 11.2 years, 1,732 major cardiovascular events were identified. The researchers found that, compared to placebo, a significant association between daily multivitamin supplementation and the risk for a major cardiovascular event was lacking. Furthermore, the specific risk for stroke, heart attack or heart disease-related death was similar for both the multivitamin and placebo groups. Additionally, multivitamin use did not alter the risk of cardiovascular events for men with or without a history of heart disease.

The authors concluded that daily multivitamin use may not lower the risk of cardiovascular events or heart disease in men. Further research in this area is warranted.

In addition to multivitamins, many other therapies have been studied for their potential effects on heart disease risk. Omega-3 fatty acid consumption is associated with reduced cardiovascular disease risk markers. Further research is required to determine if the actual risk of cardiovascular disease is reduced in these populations. Additionally, early studies in animals and humans suggest that diets containing chia seed may decrease risk factors for heart disease. Evidence suggests that the benefits of Salba® in humans are similar to those of other whole grains. Further study is needed.

inhibit platelet aggregation.” Based on this information, it’s important

Supplement? Moving along the alphabet of vitamins, this week I’ll be
talking about Vitamin D. Vitamin D is a very popular and very important
vitamin. This vitamin is essential to our ability to absorb and use calcium,
which is necessary for maintaining bone health. Aside from its relationship
with calcium, according to The Office of Dietary Supplements, “Vitamin D
has other roles in the body, including modulation of cell growth,
neuromuscular and immune function, and reduction of inflammation.” This fat
soluble vitamin is not found, naturally, in very many foods. A few food
sources for Vitamin D include fatty fish and fish oils, cheese and egg yolks.
There are also a number of foods that are fortified with Vitamin D, such as
milk, cereals, yogurt and orange juice. Additionally there are lots of
Vitamin D supplements available, ranging from tablets to sublingual Vitamin D
[1]. Another way we can get Vitamin D is from exposure to the sun “when
ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D
synthesis” according to the Office of Dietary Supplements. The Food and
Nutrition Board (FNB) at the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies
recommends 600IU of Vitamin D for individuals 1-70 years old. Individuals
over 70 years old are recommended to get 800IU of Vitamin D daily. Most
people can’t get this entire amount from their diets alone so taking a
supplemental and preferably sublingual Vitamin D [2] is not uncommon. Even
with supplementation, there are still groups who are at risk for being
vitamin D deficient. The Office of Dietary Supplements identifies these
groups as breastfed babies, older adults, people with limited exposure to the
sun, people with dark skin, those who are obese, have undergone gastric
bypass surgery or suffer from fat malabsorption. Vitamin D deficiency can
lead to rickets in children and osteomalacia and adults. According to a study
published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism March 1, 2011
vol. 96 no. 3: “D3 should be the preferred treatment option when correcting

A University of South Alabama, Mobile, study from 2001 found melatonin inhibited the process of forming amyloid-beta peptides in animal and human cell cultures.³ A University of California, San Diego, study showed 6 mg of melatonin, administered two hours before bedtime, enhanced sleep, memory and mood in the elderly.⁴

And melatonin also improved sleep efficiency in patients with schizophrenia in a 2000 study from Tel Aviv University, Israel.⁵ In the randomized, double blind, crossover trial, patients with schizophrenia who added 2 g/d of melatonin to their normal treatment significantly improved rest-derived sleep efficiency compared with placebo.

Vitamin Intellect

Vitamin E includes eight natural compounds (four tocopherols and four tocotrienols) that possess neuroprotective activity; however, alpha-tocotrienol has the most cognitive research of all the vitamin E components. Professor Chandan Sen of the Ohio State University Medical Center and his research team found a low concentration of alpha-tocotrienol, but not alpha-tocopherol, prevented glutamate-induced brain cell death, a physiological phenomenon that occurs in the brain during a stroke.⁶

Several follow up Ohio State University studies found alpha-tocotrienol acts on key molecular checkpoints to protect against glutamate- and stroke-induced neurodegeneration in rats.^7,8 The researchers then moved on to dog studies, finding oral supplementation with tocotrienols (as Tocomin SupraBio® from Carotech) reduced overall brain tissue damage, prevented loss of neural connections and helped sustain blood flow in the brains of dogs that had strokes.⁹ The researches found 24 hours after a stroke, lesions indicating brain tissue damage were about 80 percent smaller in dogs that received tocotrienol supplementation than were the lesions in dogs that received no intervention. Furthermore, tocotrienols prevented loss of white matter fiber tract connectivity after stroke. Imaging tests showed the treated animals’ brains had better blood flow at the stroke site as compared to untreated dogs’ brains, a difference attributed to tiny collateral blood vessels’ ability to improve circulation in the brain when blood flow stopped in more substantial vessels.

Turning to human patients, researchers noted elderly subjects (aged 80 years or older) with the highest plasma levels of total tocopherols, total tocotrienols or total vitamin E had a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease in comparison to subjects who had the least.¹⁰ The same group of researchers also conducted another study that found low plasma tocopherol and tocotrienol levels were associated with increased odds of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.¹¹

A recently completed, but not published, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial found humans with white matter lesions who took the supplement Tocovid SupraBio™ from Hovid Ltd. (which contains Tocomin SupraBio) had smaller lesions after two years. White matter lesions are subclinical brain damage associated with an increased risk of stroke. And the Ohio State University researchers are at it once again, currently working on another human clinical trial on neuroprotection. The “NUTRITION" Trial (Natural Tocotrienol Against Ischemic Stroke Event) aims to study the potential of Tocomin SupraBio in reducing the risk for stroke.

Vitamin D has been recognized by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) as having bone health benefits, but the sunshine vitamin has received recent praise for its positive effects on brains. A May 2012 study found vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in adolescents with severe mental illness.¹² Vitamin D deficiency (25-hydroxy-vitamin D [25-OH-D] levels less than 20 ng/ml) was present in 34 percent of the 104 adolescents with acute mental health issues, and vitamin D insufficiency (25-OH D levels from 20 to 30 ng/ml) was present in 38 percent. A remaining 28 percent were in the normal range. Adolescents with psychotic features had lower vitamin D levels (20.4 ng/ml vs. 24.7 ng/ml). The association for vitamin D deficiency and psychotic features was substantial.

A January 2012 study found low vitamin D levels were associated with depressive symptoms, especially in people with a history of depression.¹³ And correcting a vitamin D deficiency can reduce depression, according to a study presented in June 2012 at The Endocrine Society’s 94th Annual Meeting. Vitamin D supplementation reduced depression symptoms in women with moderate to severe depression. The women were deficient in vitamin D before treatment, and they did not change their antidepressant medications or other environmental factors related to depression.

A September 2012 study reported pregnant women who are deficient in vitamin D are more likely to give birth to children with slower brain development, and decreased mental and motor skills.¹⁴ A positive linear relationship was found between circulating concentrations of maternal 25(OH)D3 concentrations during pregnancy, and mental and psychomotor scores in the offspring. After adjustment for potential confounders, infants of mothers with 25(OH)D3 concentrations during pregnancy more than 30 ng/mL showed higher mental score and higher psychomotor score compared with those of mothers with 25(OH)D3 concentrations less than 20 ng/mL.

Better known for their energy prowess, B vitamins can also improve brain power because they are vital for the synthesis of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. A January 2012 study found daily supplementation with folic acid and vitamin B12 improved cognitive functioning, particularly in immediate and delayed memory performance.¹⁵ Researchers found 400 mcg/d of folic acid plus 100 mcg/d vitamin B12 for two years helped prevent cognitive decline in older adults with elevated psychological distress.

A September 2012 cross-sectional analysis of the West Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study found adolescents with a lower intake of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and folate had higher aggressive and delinquent behavior.¹⁶ Reduced intake of vitamin B6 and folate was also associated with higher withdrawn and depressed behavior.

Mindful Minerals

Magnesium can factor in Alzheimer's disease. A November 2011 University of Palermo, Italy, study found serum ionized magnesium levels are altered in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease, and these levels directly relate to cognitive function in these patients. Blood tests revealed magnesium was significantly lower in the Alzheimer's disease group as compared to a group of age-matched control adults without the disease.¹⁷

Data from a 2011 study from Tsinghua University, Beijing, suggested increasing magnesium levels with supplementation of Magteinâ„¢ (from AIDP) in the brain increased synaptic plasticity, meaning brain cells are better able to respond to signals.¹⁸ Plus, the researchers noted enhancement of plasticity in certain brain regions may enhance the efficacy of cognitive therapy for anxiety disorders. Researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, released data in 2010 that suggested increasing brain magnesium levels with Magtein supplementation led to enhanced learning abilities, working memory and short- and long-term memory in rats. Pattern completion ability was also improved in aged rats.¹⁹

The mineral zinc can also predict depression. A February 2012 study from the New England Research Institutes noted low dietary or supplemental zinc intake was linked to depressive symptoms in women.²⁰ Researchers used cross-sectional data from the population-based Boston Area Community Health survey (2002 to 2005), which included dietary and supplement use data from food frequency questionnaires. Zinc was associated with depressive symptoms in women (n=2,163), but not men (n=1,545), and women with low dietary or supplemental zinc intake were more likely to have depressive symptoms. Associations were stronger among women using antidepressant medications.

Providing supplemental chromium picolinate to elderly adults with early memory decline improved cognitive performance and brain function, according to a 2010 study.²¹ Researchers from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine randomized 26 older adults with indications of early memory decline in the double blind, placebo-controlled study to receive 1,000 mcg chromium picolinate (as Chromax®, from Nutrition 21) or placebo capsules for 12 weeks. Chromium supplementation improved learning, recall and recognition memory tasks.

multivitamin use was published in the Journal of the American Medical
Association. The objective of this study was “to determine whether
long-term multivitamin supplementation decreases the risk of total and
site-specific cancer events among men.” The study found that men who took a
multivitamin every day had lower instances of caner than the men who took the
placebo. Dr. J. Michael Gaziano led a team of doctors who performed a decade
long study on the affect of multivitamin supplementation on cancer in adult
men. This study was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and
consisted of 14,641 male physicians in the United States with an initial age
of 50 years or older. The decision to use physicians as study participants
was so that there would be “high-quality reporting of health
information.” Participants in this large-scale, randomized, double-blind,
placebo-controlled trial, called Physicians’ Health Study II, were given a
daily multivitamin [2] or placebo and followed up with for over a decade. The
study looked at cases of site-specific cancer, such as prostate cancer and
colorectal cancer as well as total cancer, not including non-melanoma skin
cancer. The study concluded “in this large prevention trial of male
physicians, daily multivitamin supplementation modestly but significantly
reduced the risk of total cancer.” The study also looked at any possible
negative side effects of taking a daily multiple vitamin on the study
participants, such as gastrointestinal tract symptoms (peptic ulcer,
constipation, diarrhea, gastritis, and nausea), fatigue, drowsiness, skin
discoloration, and migraine. The study found none of these to be an issue;
however participants taking the multivitamin were more likely to suffer from

New brand for already known vitamins: Vilofoss - All about feed

Concurrently with the Danish-owned DLG group is intensifying its activities in vitamins and minerals, the group now launches a new export brand in the area.

It is the name Vilofoss, which prospectively will act as a unifying brand, when the vitamin- and mineral companies of the group act outside their respective home markets.

“Vilofoss is our new international face in the area. It is based on two strong brands, namely Deutsche Vilomix and Vitfoss, which are well established not only in Germany and Denmark, but in large parts of Europe,” CEO Jacob Holm, Vitfoss, says.

“With the ambitions we have in the field of vitamins and minerals, the proper approach is to cultivate a strong common brand; we are very optimistic about this, as our current individual brands have a strong position in the market. Internally we make use of the synergies, and this should be reflected in the common marketing as well.”

In practice the new Vilofoss-brand means that the various companies in the group stand unanimous.

Consequently Vitfoss keeps its brand in Denmark, Deutsche Vilomix continues unchanged in Germany, the sa me goes for Calcialiment in France; however, when the companies operate in the export markets, it is under the same name certificate.

IT is common to feel a little fatigued and out-of-sorts from time to time. Inadequate and improper diets, in particular an insufficient intake of vitamins and minerals, are usually the cause of this condition.

Lack of B group vitamins, especially vitamin B12, and the mineral magnesium can cause chronic irritability, exhaustion and mental fatigue.

Although natural supplements are readily available, it is far better to maintain a well balance diet include fresh fruit and vegetables, and plenty of herbs.

Foods to help motivate you and get you going are apples, bananas, corn, grapefruit, mangoes, papaya, peaches and yellow squash. A small glass of fresh carrot juice each day is also an excellent boost to the system of all the juices it has the best balance of vitamins and minerals.

Natural food sources of magnesium are almonds and other nuts, fish, prawns, leafy green vegetables, molasses, soybeans, sunflower seeds and wheat germ.

Multivitamins don't lower heart risk: study - The Hindu

Intake of daily multivitamin supplements does not lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in men, a new study has found.

Researchers said that individuals who believe they are deriving benefits from supplements may be less likely to engage in other preventive health behaviours.

“Although multivitamins are used to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency, there is a perception that multivitamins may prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD). Observational studies have shown inconsistent associations between regular multivitamin use and CVD, with no long-term clinical trials of multivitamin use,” researchers said.

Researchers led by Howard D Sesso of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, analysed data regarding multivitamin use and major cardiovascular events from the Physicians’ Health Study (PHS) II, a large-scale trial testing the effects of long-term use of a common multivitamin on the risk of major cardiovascular events and cancer.

In an analysis of the rate of events for men in each group, the researchers found that there was no significant effect of a daily multivitamin on major cardiovascular events, or total MI or total stroke.

Taking a daily multivitamin was not significantly associated with a reduction in CVD mortality. There were fewer total deaths among multivitamin users, but this difference was not statistically significant.

Researchers also found no significant effect of a daily multivitamin on rates of congestive heart failure, angina, and coronary revascularisation. Also, the effect of a daily multivitamin on total MI, total stroke, and other cardiovascular end points did not differ between men with and without CVD at the beginning of the study.

“These data do not support multivitamin use to prevent CVD, demonstrating the importance of long-term clinical trials of commonly used nutritional supplements,” researchers said.

“Whether to take a daily multivitamin requires consideration of an individual’s nutritional status, because the aim of supplementation is to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency, plus consideration of other potential effects, including a modest reduction in cancer and other important outcomes in PHS II that will be reported separately,” they said in a statement.

The number of regular users has dropped by about three millions people since 2008, found market research firm Mintel, with the proportion of adults declining from 41 per cent to 35 per cent today.

Analysts at the firm also concluded that the vitamins and health supplements market had a “lacklustre” future.

More people now see them as a luxury in today’s financial climate, said Alexandra Richmond, a consumer analyst at Mintel, who cited “cautious consumer spending” as one explanation for “hampered elevated growth rates”.

She said: “The outlook for the market is lacklustre with value sales falling in the short term.”

The UK market for vitamins and other health supplements is still large, worth £385 million in 2012, up 2.7 per cent on last year.

However, Mintel concluded that was because of rising prices and predicted that the value of sales would start to fall as well in the next few years.

Proponents of health supplements argue that they are an excellent way for millions to boost their vitamin and mineral intake, because so many have poor diets. But doctors question the benefits in most fit and healthy adults.

In recent years an increasing number of studies have questioned claims that taking health supplements brings major health benefits.

Earlier this year a study in the journal Heart concluded that calcium supplements, taken by up to five million Britons to strengthen their bones, might double the risk of a heart attack. The researchers concluded they were “not safe or particularly effective”.

Last month scientists reported that multivitamins only resulted in a “modest” eight per cent reduction in the chance of getting cancer.

And today scientists looking at the same group of volunteers - known as the Physicians Health Study II - conclude that taking multivitamin pills daily has no impact on the chance of having a heart attack or stroke, or of dying from cardiovascular disease.

The Physicians Health Study II is important because it is the only large-scale trial set up to ask if multivitamins do actually protect people from these major killers.

The authors of today’s study, from Harvard Medical School, say in an article appearing in the Journal of the American Medical Association: “Despite uncertainty regarding the long-term health benefits of vitamins, many U.S. adults take vitamin supplements to prevent chronic diseases or for general health and well-being.”

But they conclude: “These data do not support multivitamin use to prevent cardiovascular disease, demonstrating the importance of long-term clinical trials of commonly used nutritional supplements.”

They also warn: “Individuals who believe they are deriving benefits from supplements may be less likely to engage in other preventive health behaviours.”

Sian Porter, from the British Dietetic Association, said when it came to getting vitamins and minerals it should be “food first”.

“If you have a balanced diet - such as five portions of fruit and veg a day, eating oily fish regularly, and food from all groups - and you are well then you shouldn’t need to take supplements.”

However, she said there were some groups of people - such as the under fives, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and the elderly - who should take them, as recommended by the Department of Health.

Graham Keen, of the Health Food Manufacturers' Association, said: “We feel that the small drop in the market size, given the current climate on the high street, actually represents strong industry performance.

"In addition, the fact is that vitamins and minerals are essential for good health and wellbeing.

“In an ideal world, our diet would provide us with all the vitamins and minerals that our body needs for good health.

"But evidence from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey shows that a significant proportion of the UK population simply doesn’t achieve nutritional sufficiency through diet alone.

“The best solution for most people is to eat as healthy a diet as possible, combined with other health-related lifestyle changes. Daily vitamin supplements provide important nutritional insurance for millions of users looking to safeguard their nutritional intake.”
